Visiting with Us?

We warmly welcome you to our worship of God this Lord’s Day.  Please complete a FIRSTConnect Card and place it in the Offering … or in a FIRSTConnect Box in the entranceways.

If you would like to learn more about growing in faith in Jesus Christ, about church membership and/or about ways you can learn and serve at FPC – then please speak to Pastor Lifer or Nasytis following the service, or call Pastor Lifer this week at the church office. You may also send a message to him via email ( ).

+If God is calling you and has given you the resources to make an extra offering today to help with Scholarship Support for participants in this year’s Fall Break University Ministry Educational Equipping – the CCEF Biblical Counseling Conference in Birmingham (Oct. 11-13) – please make your gift to FPC Starkville (via check or cash today, or other means with the office) with the Memo note: University Ministry Scholarship Support. You may certainly make a gift of any amount; a “full” scholarship amount is $275.

Freewill Monthly Offering as Extra Giving Support to FPC’s Local Mission & Benevolence: We invite you to place in one of the baskets at the front of the Chancel – during the closing hymn or following the service – a FPC Local Missions & Benevolence Support Special Offering. This offering is to be given only after disciples first bring their tithe to God and regular offering; it is used to supplement FPC’s local benevolence mission support and mission ministries.

Active Members of FPC: We will have a Called Congregational Meeting and Meeting of the Corporation at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary on Sunday, September 22 - after announcements and before worship begins in the 11:00 am service.  These will be brief but very important concurrent meetings for: (1) the nomination and election of elders to serve in the Session Class of 2022 and of deacons to serve in the Diaconate Class of 2022; as well as (2) the nomination and election in the corporate meeting of members of the Board of Directors of the Corporation.

The Nominating Committee will nominate as a slate for election by approval (of all five) of the following nominees to serve as members of the Session and of the Board of Directors: Harry Bell; Scotty Crawford; Wesley Ferguson; Susan Gamel; and Brien Henry. Under the Corporation’s Bylaws, the members of the Session constitute the full corporate Board, unless the corporation elects further Board members who are not also serving on Session. In last year’s Called Meeting of the Corporation on October 21, 2018, FPC members further specifically approved this standard, voting unanimously that FPC’s Session members are and should be concurrently constitute the full Board of Directors. However, under the Bylaws, the Corporation may always elect under proper procedure one or more additional Board members, including at the forthcoming meeting.

The Nominating Committee will also nominate as a slate for election by approval (of all four) of the following nominees to serve as members of the Diaconate: Jack Atkins; Rebecca Wade Banzaf; Janet Bardwell; and Lee Weiskopf.
