Made for Margin...for Your Maker

Made for Margin...for Your Maker

Jan 20, 2019

Passage: Psalm 127:1-2

Preacher: Martin Lifer

Category: Dedication

Detail:

Psalm 127:1-2

Richard A. Swenson, M.D., and Christian Writer –

MARGIN: Restoring Emotional, Physical, Financial, and Time Reserves to Overloaded Lives

THE OVERLOAD SYNDROME: Learning to Live Within Your Limits

“Margin” = “space between our ____________ and our ________________.

“When you reach the limits of your resources or abilities, you have no margin left.”

5 environments: physical and cognitive, ... social, emotional, and spiritual.

You are Made for Margin for Your Maker.

(1) Driving ourselves and our families with no boundaries and no margin is foolish, faithlessness ... and finally fatal. Psalm 127:1-2

“Overloaded” = No reserves of time, finances, health, healthy emotions, spiritual grace => Discontented

Scheduling ourselves (and our children) full with earthly activities does NOT lead to fulfillment: neither fulfilled souls nor God’s Kingdom!

(2) Belief in God => Freedom to Live by the Schedule He Blesses and that Jesus Lived: “The Pace of Faith.”

(a) Each Day: Make Margin for Your Maker.

Mark 1:35 – And rising early in the morning, while it was still dark, He departed and went to a desolate place, and there He prayed.

(b) One Day Each Week, A Holy Convocation

Luke 4:16b - As was his custom, He went to the synagogue on the Sabbath Day.

Leviticus 23:3a – Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest: A Holy Convocation

(3) Saved by Grace (Baptism Fulfilled): Led by the Lord into His Rest. But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. 1 Timothy 6:6

What did Jesus possess then? What does Jesus possess now?

The LORD is my Shepherd. I shall not want! = Contented, Saved Soul

Matthew 11:28-29 - "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.

Fulfilled Souls and God’s Kingdom! You anoint my head with oil. My cup runneth over!
