Church Update concerning COVID-19

Posted by FPC Staff on

March 19, 2020

Dear Church Family and Friends,

I love being with you. One of my great joys is to see faithful worshipers come to FPC each Lord’s Day in the Lord’s House. God blesses FPC with members and friends who truly begin most weeks worshiping the Risen Lord on the Day of Resurrection. Likewise, your Session gives thanks for your very real expression of love for Jesus and for his Church each Sunday you join us.

Nevertheless, as COVID-19 concerns continue to impact our community, we are being asked by the highest levels of governing authorities to desist from any in-person gatherings of groups of 10 or more people. Though we at FPC place highest priority on the worship of Almighty God, He also commands us to subject ourselves to governing authorities for the Lord's sake and as part of our witness to the non-Christian world that Christians are good citizens & neighbors. [1 Peter 2:13-17]

Therefore, the Session has determined to suspend through Sunday, March 29, any further church activities that involve gathering physically, in-person, 10 or more people. That means that we will not have open-door services in the Sanctuary on March 22 or March 29. However, you will continue to have the opportunity to join in Sunday worship with music, prayers, and sermon: live, in “real time,” via our live-stream FPC Facebook broadcast. Thank you for joining and sharing news of the broadcast of the March 15 Service; there have already been over 1,000 views of that service!

Please see the enclosed FPC Starkville Communications Ministry Resource News for further updates and directions on how you can: (1) watch our worship services online; (2) continue to be faithful in giving to God His Tithe, supporting that His ministries continue through FPC; and (3) volunteer and minister to others during this time.  As always, please do not hesitate to contact us at the church office for technical assistance or to help with other ministry questions or needs you may have. Call us at (662) 323-1994, or send an email to

Your pastor and friend in Christ,

Martin Lifer

In addition, of course you may continue what many do in accessing the FPC Sermon Podcast to return to and listen to FPC Sermons. Coming Soon: We hope to post a worship service video archive on the FPC website, and we are working on several communication platforms to make available access to FPC Sunday School & other Bible Studies. Please stay posted for further updates!

Ways to Volunteer and Minister to Others:

Pastor Martin Lifer is seeking volunteers to call – consistently, each day – older members or those with health problems to see how they are doing and ask if they have any needs each day.  Please contact the church office or Pastor Lifer directly, if you would be willing to be the daily FPC pastoral contact person for one or more members.
