PW Women’s Ministry offers a Summer Bible Study Opportunity! Please make plans to join us this summer as we study the Patriarchs: Encountering the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This is a Beth Moore study that many women in our church have already participated in but it is so good, we want to do it again! This 10 week study of Genesis 12-50 provides such a strong foundation for future studies in both the Old and New Testaments and really brings the Bible to life allowing us to grow a relationship with the Fathers of our Faith. We invite all women in our church, including the gals in our youth program, to join our study this summer. We will meet in the parlor Tuesday evenings from 6-7:30 beginning June 12 until August 14. Childcare will be provided by the church for those in need. We will be ordering workbooks soon, so please contact Peggy Johnson at pjohnson@ms.metrocast.net or Orly Hardin at obh2@msstate.edu to reserve a copy or for any questions.

Our Adult Bible School dates are June 3-6. Our speaker this year is Dr. John Sloop. Dr. Sloop, the senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Harrisonburg, VA for more than 25 years, will be speaking to us on “A Whale of a Tale: Lessons from the Life of Jonah.” He has many ties with our state and congregation - he studied at Belhaven College as an undergraduate, has family in the Jackson area, and his uncle Bob served as FPC Starkville’s senior pastor from 1943-52. Dr. Sloop will preach at both services on Sunday and then will speak Sunday through Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. A meal will be served at 5:30 each night at a cost of $6 except Sunday, which will be a covered dish supper. Monday and Tuesday nights will be catered by the Veranda. The Wednesday meal will be the traditional MOC chicken with the Veranda providing the sides.

As Vacation Bible School gets closer and closer we are excited to say that we will begin pre-registration today and continue until VBS starts! There are multiple ways to register your child or grandchild for this year’s VBS. Clay will be at a table outside the sanctuary after both the 8:30 and 11:00 services where you can sign up your children. All of the kids in the childcare program and any involved in Sunday School will have them passed out in their classes. Also, the form will be online on our website (fpcstarkville.org) and you can print them out and get them back to Clay. There is no deadline to when you can register for VBS but the t-shirt deadline is Wednesday, May 23, so try to get the form in before then if you want a shirt.
